"Treasures in the Text" will be a space on here for slowing down and digging deeper into Scripture, one verse at a time. Sometimes the most familiar passages hold powerful truths we can easily overlook. By looking at context, meaning, and application, we can uncover the wisdom, encouragement, and truth God has placed in His Word.

In Colossians 1:16, Paul talks about God as the Creator and that ALL THINGS, whether we see them or not, were created through Him and for Him. This teaches us:

  1. Jesus has authority over everything.

  2. Jesus existed before creation. Jesus was not just a good teacher or prophet, but He is eternal God.

  3. Everything was made for God's glory. Creation is not random or meaningless. It was made by Christ and ultimately points back to Christ.

  4. No power is greater than God. Even spiritual powers, earthly kingdoms, and authorities are beneath Him.
