God Delights in His People

Have you ever thought about the fact that God does not just love His people, but He delights in them?
That can be hard to fully understand. Many of us know God loves us because the Bible tells us He does, but sometimes we picture that love as distant, formal, or based on how well we are doing. We may think God loves us because He has to, but Scripture shows us something much more personal and beautiful.
Zephaniah 3:17 says:
“The Lord your God is with you,
the Mighty Warrior who saves.
He will take great delight in you;
in his love he will no longer rebuke you,
but will rejoice over you with singing.”
Psalm 149:4 says,:
"For the Lord takes delight in his people;
he crowns the humble with victory."
What an encouraging reminder. God is not simply tolerating His children. He takes pleasure in them. He sees His people through eyes of grace, compassion, and faithful love.
And His love is steadfast. That means it is faithful, unfailing, and not easily shaken. God’s love does not disappear on our hard days. It does not run out when we feel weak. It does not change when we stumble, struggle, or feel unworthy. His love remains because His character remains the same.
This does not mean God overlooks sin or that our choices do not matter. But it does mean that when we belong to Him, we can come to Him with confidence. We do not have to hide from Him. We do not have to perform for Him. We can rest in the truth that we are deeply loved by a faithful Father.
In Christ, we are welcomed, cherished, and held securely by God’s steadfast love.
So today, be encouraged: God is not annoyed by you coming to Him. He is not tired of hearing your prayers. He is not distant from your pain. He loves His people with a faithful, never-giving-up love, and He delights in us.
